This used Swiss Model 1842 is a single-shot percussion pistol in .70 caliber with an overall length of about 14.5 inches. The 8.25-inch round barrel has a smooth bore with some erosion, and the metal shows bright surfaces with scattered stains. The brass nose cap, side plate, trigger guard and butt cap are described as very good, and the butt cap carries a swivel.

Collectors of Swiss military percussion arms and antique handguns will find the crown-over-BF proof marks and the brass fittings the main points of interest. The stock has small chips at the front of the trigger guard and the usual issue dents. The trigger releases the hammer at half cock, which the listing notes as a function issue.
